Internet for Students

Q: Am I locked into a contract?

No. All twifi plans have no minimum contract term and are billed monthly. You can cancel, pause or switch at any time with no cancellation fees. The notice period is 2 months.

Q: Are there any one-time costs?

For 5G Home Internet and all fiber plans there is a one-time activation fee of CHF 79. The Data SIM has no activation fee. After that you only pay the monthly price.

Q: Can I get internet without a Swiss residence permit?

Yes. If you don't have a residence permit or a fixed Swiss address yet, you can have your package sent to a post office and pick it up there.

Q: I'm only in Switzerland for a semester or a short stay. Does that work?

Yes. twifi has no minimum contract term, so it works well for exchange semesters, Erasmus stays, internships and other short stays. The notice period is 2 months, so cancel 2 months before you leave.

Q: What happens when I move to a new flat?

With 5G, just unplug the box and plug it in at your new place. If your new building has fiber, you can switch to a fiber plan free of charge.

Q: How quickly can I get connected?

The 5G Home Box ships within 1–2 business days and works as soon as you plug it in. Fiber installations are typically scheduled within a week of your order.

Q: Is it enough for a whole flat-share?

Yes. Every plan has unlimited data. The 5G Wi-Fi 6 router handles up to 64 devices at once, and Fiber 500 or Fiber 1G give large flat-shares plenty of headroom.

Q: Does fiber work at my address?

You can check fiber availability for your address on the "Fiber & TV" page. 5G home internet works at most Swiss addresses via the Salt and Sunrise networks.
